Call for Applications for the 2021 “Understanding Korea Support Project for NGOs and Alumni”

The Center for International Affairs of the Academy of Korean Studies is providing financial support to NGOs active in the Understanding Korea project and alumni of Understanding Korea programs. We hope to receive many applications from groups and alumni who are working hard on behalf of the Understanding Korea project.

○ Eligible Applicants: NGOs and Alumni Organizations of Understanding Korea Programs

1. NGOs
Organizations located outside of Korea which seek to provide proper understanding of Korean culture and development, and conduct academic and/or cultural activities which contribute to increased mutual understanding between Korea and the home country

2. Alumni Organizations of Understanding Korea Programs
Those with experience participating in Understanding Korea programs between 2003 and the present, and who voluntarily are engaged in activities which increase the reach of the reach of the Understanding Korea goals

○ Applications are accepted for programs in the following areas:

1. Seminars intended to improve understanding of Korean society and culture targeting overseas elementary, middle, and high school faculty, administrations, and/or textbook authors and editors

2. Events and seminars designed to improve understandings of Korean culture and development which target overseas students (elementary, secondary, and/or university)

3. Development and compilation of educational materials designed for improving the understanding of Korean society and culture by residents of the home country

○ Amount of Financial Support

Between 6 and 9 million KRW for each project, the amount of support may vary depending on the nature of the project

○ Term of Support

From the conclusion of the agreement to November 30, 2021

○ Application Period: Tuesday, March 2 – Friday, March 26, 2021

Please fill out the “Application Form” (prescribed format) and the “Organizational Activity Report” (including the Organization Representative’s resume; freeform), which can be found through a popup on our website or under the “Notice” tab. The forms may be submitted via email or mailed to the address below.
