 Fall 2019 Teach and Learn in Korea(TaLK) Applicaiton



 


○ Introduction of TaLK Programme


  •  The Korean government offers scholarships for adventurous global leaders who wish to teach English in Korea and to experience and learn about Korean culture through 'TaLK (Teach & Learn in Korea)' programme.


○ Job Description


  • To teach English in primary schools designated by the POE (Provincial /Metropolitan Offices of Education in Korea) during the contract period.

  • To prepare teaching materials and activities for English language classes.

  • To assist English language classes and other extracurricular activities organised by the school, the POE or the community.


○ Contract Period


  • 1 Year : 1st August 2019 – 31st July 2020

  • 6 Months : 1st August 2019 – 31st January 2020 or 1st February 2020 – 31st July 2020

    (Contract may be extended depending on the performance report at the end of the contract period.)


○ Teaching Hours


  •  15 hours per week (not inclusive of lesson preparation and commute times)


○ Benefits


  • Monthly Stipend: 1.5 million KRW (approximately 1,008 GBP)

  • Settlement Allowance: 300,000KRW (one-off payment, approximately 201 GBP)

  • Accommodation or Fixed Monthly Rent fee: The POE will provide with an accommodation for each scholar. The type of property can vary. Monthly housing settlement (a fixed rent fee of 400,000 KRW per month) may be available instead.

  • Entrance and Exit Allowances: 1.3 million KRW (approximately 873GBP)

  • Co-teaching system

  • Government Scholarship Certificate

  • Cultural Experience programmes


○ Eligibility (Applicants must be)


  • Citizens of one of the following countries where the national language is English: Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, the United Kingdom or the United States of America.

  • Third-year Bachelor's degree candidates or Associate's degree holders who completed their education at an accredited post-secondary institution in one of the above countries.

  • Overseas Koreans who are permanent residents in one of the countries listed above.

  • Korean citizens who have lived in one of the aforementioned countries as temporary residents for at least 8 years (with the intention of obtaining permanent residency), and who have completed both primary and secondary education in that country.


○ Online Application Deadline : Friday, 31st May 2019


  • Interview schedule will be discussed individually by email after submission of application.


○ How to Apply


  •  Initial application documents (Application A, B) must be submitted online through the Talk website (www.talk.go.kr). The printed and signed application forms(A and B) and supporting documents(sealed recommendation letters, academic transcript, copy of passport, doctor’s note if required)must be submitted to the Korean Education Centre in the UK(of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea) on your visit for an interview. (The submission of DBS apostilled may be deferred.)
