 2018 Autumn Teach and Learn in Korea (TaLK) Programme


 


○ The Korean Government is sponsoring the 'TaLK (Teach & Learn in Korea)' programme and  inviting adventurous global leaders to teach English and to experience and learn about Korean culture.



○ Job Description

- Teach English in afterschool classes in primary schools designated by the POE (Provincial/Metropolitan Offices of Education) during the term of scholarship.

- Prepare teaching materials and activities for English language education.

- Assist with activities related to English language education and other extracurricular activities organized by the school, the POE or the community.



○ Contract Term

- 6 Months Contract(1 August 2018-31 January 2019)

- Extendable to 1 year when agreed by the POE



○ Teaching Hours

- 15 hours per week (not inclusive of preparation and commute times)



○ Benefits

- Monthly Stipend: 1.5 million KRW (approximately 1,070 GBP)

- Settlement Allowance: 300,000KRW (one-time payment)

- Housing or Fixed Monthly Rent: The POE will decide the type of housing for each scholar. Monthly housing settlement (a fixed fee of KRW 400,000) may be provided instead

- Entrance Allowance (KRW 1.3 million)

- Exit Allowance(KRW 1.3 million) (only for the applicants who have more than 1-year contract)

- Medical Insurance Coverage

- Vacation and Sick Leave

- TaLK Orientation

- Co-teaching system

- Government Scholarship Certificate

- Cultural Experience Programs



○ Eligibility (Applicants must)

- Be a citizen of one of the following countries where the national language is English: Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, the United Kingdom or the United States of America.

- Overseas Koreans who are permanent residents in one of the aforementioned countries

- Korean citizens who have lived in one of the aforementioned countries as temporary residents for at least 8 years (with the intention of obtaining permanent residency), and who have completed both primary and secondary education in that country.

- Third-year Bachelor's degree candidates or Associate's degree holders who completed their education at an accredited post-secondary institution in one of the above countries.



○ Application Deadline

1st Application Deadline: 9 March 2018      2nd Application Deadline: 6 April 2018

3rd Application Deadline: 11 May 2018       4th Application Deadline: 8 June 2018


※ Interview schedule will be discussed individually after submission of application.

Initial application documents (Application A, B) must be submitted on-line through the Talk website (www.talk.go.kr) and the following application documents and support materials must be submitted to the Education Centre of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea by post or visit.
